Ritalin also known as Methylphenidate is a medication prescribed for children who have Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). Ritalin is sometimes also prescribed for treating narcolepsy. Ritalin and psychotherapy help in improving the conditions of individual who have ADHD. Ritalin should be only given to kids who are over 6 years of age. Many parents are getting the prescription of this medication from various doctors to control or to bring improvement in their child’s behavior. This medication is very common and primary drug which is also used to treat brain injuries, drowsiness and fatigue.
Ritalin has many side-effects. Its short term effects are nervousness, insomnia, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, changes in heart rate and blood pressure. Its long term effects are fevers, anxiety, restlessness, hallucination, bugs or worms crawling under the skin. Overdose of Ritalin can also can such effects. A person who has taken overdose of Ritalin needs to emergency medication at that very moment. Since Ritalin is causing so many problems, this medication should not be prescribed to anyone. It can also cause death.

The information you provide would work well in an informative essay, but what you need to do is to argue either for or against Ritalin in a certain situation. Should Ritalin be given to children?
